Kunming Zhonghai International Center is located in the core of Wujiaba District, Kunming City. It is the first super Grade A office building in Guandu District. It is now delivering new business cards to the whole country and even Southeast Asia as the “New Center of Kunming City”.
perspective analysis
The architectural design of the tower is inspired by peacocks, and a rhythmic folding curtain wall system is planned, and with an ultra-high volume of 220m, the tower, which is lightly opened like a fan, is shaped into an urban sculpture in the new district.

At the beginning of receiving this case, the lighting design conducted a survey of the daytime and night environments based on Kunming City, and established a macro observation distance with a maximum radius of 10km (directly to the edge of the Dianchi Lake). The design considerations of Chuncheng Road and Wujiaba planning area are the best observation range, and the architectural urban scale and long-distance street scale are the most attractive and expressive content of lighting design.
In terms of design thinking, we start from the perspective of local culture. We hope that this urban sculpture can make looking up at the night sky a certain expectation, and seeing another impression of Chuncheng at an altitude of 100 meters.
The rich texture changes of Dianchi Lake
In terms of design language, the lighting design continues the long vertical language of the building’s facade, using the method of line drawing to paint the first impression of the power and shape of the super-high-rise tower in the night sky; the crown part of the tower visualizes the concept of “sky realm”.
On the facade of the tower, the point light sources of the crown of the tower are scattered and arranged at a distance calculated by the Fibonacci sequence, and the afterglow of the “heavenly realm” is scattered like a galaxy. It is thrown on the tower and disappears into the fireworks of urban life. We hope that the city sculpture will bring people at night. Not only is there a long-distance shock, but it should also have the temperature of life, so that these little stars with flickering light can become “small blessings” that you inadvertently look up and see every day.
effect analysis
At the entrance of the office building, the language of geometric folding has changed from vertical to horizontal, so the long lighting of the tower is controlled here in a state of blur. The canopy of stainless steel and printed glass is supported by the light, showing a light sense of floating, and the weight is light. Carrying the towering “feather crown”, the virtual and the real, strength and softness are balanced.
When faced with changing different regions and groups, the use of design language is particularly important.It is not only the key to expressing the local nature of architecture, but also a bridge to realize the interconnection between design and the local environment and culture.
