For the Qinghe Market collective rental housing project, the nighttime building lights are far more than simple illumination; they imbue the buildings with warmth and vitality, depicting the essence of “home” and the soul of a “community.”
Located southwest of Xiaoying Bridge in Haidian District, Beijing, this project is positioned as a high-end talent apartment complex and will become a striking landmark in the Qinghe area, creating an iconic architectural presence.

During the day, the building showcases its modern form and beauty through its lines and materials; but when night falls, we will start from the building’s structure and, through layered lighting and shadows, allow the building to shed its rigid appearance in the darkness, revealing an artistic beauty of its contours.
The lighting utilizes a contrast of light and shadow to highlight the building (N) and sculpt its exceptional lines.

At night, the building lights are usually predominantly warm white. During holidays, the lighting system can be intelligently controlled to display different themes, amplifying the sense of community and shared experience through light and shadow, and enhancing residents’ sense of identity and belonging to the community.

The building’s facade lighting primarily uses vertical linear lights on the front and point sources on the back. The combination of points, lines, and surfaces, along with controlled variations in brightness, highlights the building’s modern aesthetic and layered design. This makes the cluster of rental housing units appear more harmonious and unified in the nighttime, without sacrificing attention to detail.

The lighting design of this project consistently revolves around the human experience. Lighting is no longer a cold, technical product; instead, it conveys warmth through light and shadow. On the slanted surface of the “N”-shaped entrance, modern projection technology is used to display dynamic and vibrant images, adding interest and a sense of security to the space. This becomes an important dimension in defining “a better life,” providing a good platform for residents to interact and becoming a popular gathering place and photo spot.
